An attractive front-of-home outdoor lighting system isn’t made by putting a couple lights in the ground. It’s not made by shining bright spotlights at the house or spotlighting one or two focal areas. Great outdoor lighting starts with a great design.
A truly great design will take into account the home’s facade both horizontally and vertically. You want to see the home’s facade from end to end and top to bottom. In the photo to the right, for instance, we took care not only to install lights on the ground but to also illuminate the upper levels to highlight the area above the portico as well as the dormers and even the beautiful trim below the roofline.
Another important part of this lighting design was the pathway lighting. When walking along a path, you don’t want to think about possibly tripping over unseen obstacles. You want to arrive safely and never give it a second thought. This property has a serpentine path and we chose strategic spots along the bends to guide owners and guests effortlessly from the driveway to the house and back.
What does it take to light a stunning brick home? All great outdoor lighting starts with a well thought out design by a highly trained and experienced outdoor lighting designer. You want your outdoor lighting designer to take into account everything from function to illuminating the right areas and even taking into account safety and security.
